Simple Pleasures-Reading

Happy Thursday dear friends….hope your having a great week and are enjoying this fall weather.  I am loving everything about this time of year…

Last night I spent the evening making pumpkin bread and my house smelled so yummy, the mixes of cinnamon and nutmeg and pumpkin spice filling the house was a aroma to behold.  Anyway, I could go on about that and the smells of cooking are a wonderful simple pleasure, but today the one I am really enjoying now is reading.

Amishcollage

This is my favorite…Amish Fiction, next to my bible and bible study books, this is what I enjoying reading the most.  These stories are full of family, love, faith.  Such strong family values.  Where life slows down and the real things in life that matter are tended to.

“If you think all romance novels have covers displaying a shirtless Fabio clone embracing a woman with heaving bosoms and are filled with torrid sex scenes, think again. The hottest trend right now in the romance genre is the “Amish inspirational,” which are books with chastely dressed women on the front and no sex inside. Yep, that’s right, kissing is about as racy as it gets in an Amish inspirational. But, for many readers, that’s very appealing. As a recent article in USA Today says, “In our sex-soaked society, nothing seems to inflame the imagination quite like the chaste.””

If your a reader, and you love the simple life, I highly recommensimple pleasured these books.  You will not be disappointed.

Hi Cindy, I love reading but still haven't tried one of these books, I really must do so. Are there any that have a 'Christmasy' theme too that you can recommend? It's getting that time of year when I like to read Christmas/holiday fiction :) Have a lovely day sweetie.

Cindy, so nice to see you at the party today, as always. I've been wanting to find a good fiction series. I will check this one out. I don't know much about the Amish way of life, but what better way to find out?

As for that pumpkin bread, this is such a hard time of the year to be a good girl in the kitchen... at least it is for me. So many delectable flavors and eating options. LOL!

These simple pleasures go hand in hand - reading while eating a piece of pumpkin bread. Yum to both! Thanks for sharing :)

I love the Amish fiction genre too! My love affair with them started years ago when I read Beverly Lewis's "The Shunning". One of my daughters loves it as much as I do.

I will admit to being sorely vexed as I tried to wait for new books in the Abram's Daughters saga a few years ago.

Anyway, love them too and find great simple pleasure in reading them.

Cindy,
I so love the Beverly Lewis books. We live 3 hours from Lancaster County where much of Lewis's books take place. It is easy to imagine the storylines when we've seen the horse and buggys traveling up and down old Route 30! Love your Simple Pleasure today.
