Take a peek

into some of these houses.  Don’t you just love peeking into others home for something wonderful that you can take into your own home and recreate.  I know I do.  Here are a few pictures that I have had in my inspiration file for a while.  Hope you enjoy.  I love kitchens and bedrooms, they are my favorite…Maybe because that is where I like to spend time.

Weekly Roundup

Her-Office-Print-C10321478

Good Morning all!  I can’t believe it’s Friday already and I haven’t even had a chance to really post since earlier in the week.  This has been a very busy week.  Lot’s on my plate that I have wanted or needed to do.  Finally making some headway.  My weekend may be busy with some shopping, so I think today will be spent reading some blogs, catching up on some reading, making some list, and some light housework.  That sounds like a full Friday.

Well, Friday wouldn’t be Friday if I didn’t share with you some great home inspiration with you that I found during my blog visits this week.  Let me say, that I have appreciated the emails  and comments from everyone is regards to my Weekly roundup.  Believe me, when I say I just touch the surface of what is out there is blogland.   There are so many great post each day…but the ones that I share, are either something that has touched me, or inspired me, or is motivation me personally.

written lampshade

How cute is this lampshade.? I {heart} it!!!!  I want one!  How bout you? The inspiration for this lampshade is from PB. You can find more out about this Written Lampshade@ Marman Tattoo,  Can you believe she did this with Sharpies?  Now, where did I put my sharpies?  Hmm, guess I should put that on my to do list for today…FIND THEM!  I think there are some spare lampshades in the basement.  Weekend project?  Could be!

kitchen I have many passions but one is beautiful kitchens…when I saw this one, I knew I just had to share it with you.  Check  out this beautiful kitchen @ The Polished Pebble.  I love the freshness of the white and the accents she uses with all the old jars.

Also, a wonderful little playground to try your hand at designing you own room online, check out  Design a room.leaning mirrors

If any of you are in the situation like I am in, where decorating walls isn’t a real option ( my house is going on the market next month and hubby doesn’t want to put a bunch of useless holes in the wall) This is a great alternative. Check out Leaning artwork @The Inspired Room.

magnetic board Of course my weekly roundup wouldn’t seem to be complete without another project from Traci and Beneath My Heart. Check out her   Magnetic Board Tutorial.  She gives you a great step by step instruction of how to make this wonderful magnetic board.  Of course when I saw this, I thought how wonderful this could be in a kids room for all there “little notes” , etc.  Not to mention you could decorate this to match their style or room decor.  Endless possibilities.  Plus this would awesome to make for your office area, because if you are like me, I always have little pieces of paper just lying around that I need to.  Places to remember to call, appts. that I need to keep, My blog schedule and list of posting, etc.  Thinking I will have to make one of these for myself and my office.

Well that about does it for me and my roundup for this week.  Please feel free to share with me some projects or sites that you love.  I love scouring new blogs and making new friends.

Have a blessed Friday everyone.

Hugs,

Thinking about bunnies

Another weekend has come and gone.  It was a slow weekend here.  I wish I could say that I got lots done, but that wouldn’t be the truth.  I didn’t have a great weekend and so most of it, I just spent doing some reflection and reading.  Not sure any of you ever feel this way, but I know I do.  Hoping for a much better week.

This morning the skies look clear and bright, but I know this is short lived.  We crocus_snow have another  snow headed our way this afternoon….I am really needing some sun and some warmth.  :) Seems like we just got dug out from the last 2.5 foot of snow that we got last week…hoping and praying that this will be dusting or a few inches…I can’t even bring myself to look at the forecast.

Now that Valentines Day is behind us, (did you all have a good one?) I guess I need to focus on Easter.  We all know that it will be here before we know it.  With that I thought I would share with you a little bunny that I “prettied up”.

First, my bunny in all it’s Paper Mache glory…..that I picked up at the antique mall for peanuts.

20100131_10

I gave her a coat of paint, not sure what color it was, it was more of a off white

20100131_14

Once she was all dried, I antiqued her, using my trusty shoe polish.  Yes, I have used shoe polish for years as a way of aging my goodies.

20100131_13

After that was completed, I dressed her in a pretty purple bow.  Now she is just waiting to be “on display”.  Maybe that will come this week.

20100131_16 Got any Easter projects you are working on?  Oh do tell!

Got a few more projects on the table, so keep checking back.

I can see clearly now

see clearly the rain snow is gone has stopped.
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Okay, I was on a roll there(am I dating myself here, I know you all remember that song, right?)…but the snow has stopped at least for a few days and we have dug ourselves out somewhat, at least we are mobile again.  But I want to apologize for not getting here to post this week.  It has just been a different kind of week, I am  off my schedule something awful.  Hubby has been home almost all week because of our historic and record breaking snowfall.   Not sure about you, but when my husband is home, I don’t get anything accomplished that I want too. Plus on top of all that, I was really under the weather.  So alas,I couldn’t even think of anything to  share.  I know you don’t want to hear about me blowing my nose, and how sore it is.  But, thanks to the friends that dropped me a note or left a comment, I am feeling quite a bit better.

But since I decided several weeks ago I would like to take Friday’s and do a Weekly Roundup of some great sites/post that I visited throughout the week.  Man, there are some talented women out there is blogland.  At night after things slow down(and they do, cause I am now a empty nester)  I spend several hours just reading your blogs.  I am so fascinated by all the things you women can accomplish.  You all inspire me to get up and get busy!

My side trips this week included:

salt dough hearts Now, let me take you to Cathy’s @ Cobblestone Farm, for her adorable salt dough hearts.  With Valentine Day just around the corner, how cute these would be, but I love the fact that you can make them in different colors and they would be precious in any room all year round.  Take a peek.  She share a great recipe for these too.

One blog I just {heart} is “Beneath My Heart”, Traci hascorner hutch the best  furniture makeovers, as I was going through her site the other night  I found a great idea for a corner hutch (which by the way I  have)  and it needs a new look.  I think I found it here.  (I would like to repurpose mine to put in my craft room when I move) One of the best thing about her makeovers, is she share with you pictures along the way and explains to you how she gets the look she does.  Traci has a wonderful collection of makeovers.

I love organizing about as much as I do neat crafts and furniture  makeovers, so wanted to share a wonderful site that I ran across, looking for something.  Of which I can’t remember now, but I am sure it was important at the time.  Check out  Rachel at  the Small Notebook Blog.  Of course, when I go there, I get lost and spend waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy to much time there.  I love her inspiration  for her home.
Rachel says:

  • keep our lives simple and uncomplicated
  • nurture our relationships
  • learn practical skills such as gardening and cooking
  • make smart decisions for our money
  • enjoy peace during a hectic day

Really should get this posted so that I can start my day, hubby is going into work today, so maybe I can get back on track just in time for the weekend.  Yeah, me!

Blessed Friday everyone!

Still under the weather

Brrrrr

Can you say another cold day here in Maryland? We are bracing ourselves for another snow today into tomorrow.  With snowfall accumulations between 12-18 inches.  So far the weather forecaster have been off on there numbers.  So wondering if we will get more than expected, as has been the normal. Most of us are getting tired of the snow and the shoveling, we are really looking forward to the Spring.  Come on SPRING!

itf302048 Today I am taking some time to just play on the computer and work on a few things, mainly organizing files.  Still feeling crappy with this cold.  Not sleeping well at night because I can’t breathe, seems like all I do is blow my nose. I’m am so ready to be over this.  There is things this girl wants to do.  I have a list of “to do” projects that I want to tackle.  Mainly small crafty things but I just don’t have the motivation or the energy for it.

I haven’t really even thought much about Valentines Day, because I haven’t felt like doing anything, plus I can’t get out on the roads.  I have seen some wonderful valentine crafts to do, but thinking I most likely will not get to them this week….I guess I can make them for next year…Right?  love-valentines-day

Do you have any Valentine traditions or little special things you do for your loved ones? I  would love to hear about them.  I have found wonderful ideas (no cost) online, but now for the life of me, I can’t find them.  I know I saved it.  Guess it is the “fog” in my head that is causing them to escape me.

Well did you notice my new banner on my site?  I created it yesterday afternoon while I was sitting around. It is okay for now, most likely will change it soon, want to do something a bit different, but  this is a bit more of what I am going for I think.

Gonna  scoot and grab a shower, so maybe that will make me feel a bit better. Have a blessed Tuesday.

Crazy Weekend

tissues This weekend has been a little crazy.  Not alot got accomplished around here by me, I was/am suffering from a cold, and had the sniffles pretty bad.  Constantly blowing my nose, tissues everywhere,  my nose  is so sore and red. Most of the weekend, I couldn’t smell anything, my nose was stopped up.  I never have been able to understand that, one minute it is running like crazy and the next you can’t breathe through it.  Go figure.

A snowflake is one of God's most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together!  ~Author Unknown

Plus we were one of the fortunate people to experience this, this past weekend.   We probably got around 30 inches or so.  Hubby spent most of Saturday outside, and I felt terrible that I couldn’t be outside helping him while he was shoveling us out.  But I had no business being outside.  Eventually we did20100206_149 hook up with a neighbor to plow the remainder of our driveway and the street in front of the house.  We use it for additional parking.  (This picture was taken of my back yard, you can see by the fence how much snow we actually got and this picture was taken before it ended.)  I posted a few other pictures here.

The trouble with weather forecasting is that it's right too often for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it.  ~Patrick Young

Our weather forecast tells us that we are getting ready for another “hit'” on Tuesday.  I am thinking that the kids will most likely be out of school all week.  They have already called school off for tomorrow, and with the next one coming in on Tuesday and Wednesday….just don’t see them getting back to school this week.

butterfly-09-t-1 My hope is that this week will be a good week to finish up some small craft projects that I want to work on, since I didn’t get anything really done this weekend.  So therefore, I have no re-do, makeover for Met Monday with Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch.  Feel free to check out some wonderful inspiration there today.

Need to scoot, maybe I will see you at Susan’s.

Have a lovely blessed Monday!

I asked God

Jesus-Christ- I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No.
It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn’t granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.
I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.
You must grow on your own! But I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life, so that you may enjoy all things.

I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said…Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

Week Roundup

Blog Most are like me and spend way to much time during the week reading everyone's blogs'.  But there are so many talented and creative women out there to learn from.  Here are a few post that I really liked this week.  Either for their creative talent with DIY’s or for their  wonderful usable tips.

moving boxesMelissa over at 320 Sycamore had some great ideas regarding to moving.   She called this her Moving System.  Great ideas and helpful tips for your next upcoming move. I will have to implement some of these if not all in my upcoming move this year.  She shows us how to keep things together so that finding “our stuff” is easier to find after the move. Great tips Melissa!

Nester shared a wonderful post about  preserving some memories.  If you missed it, check it out.  I love this idea. framed art I actually went out this week and picked up some embellishments that I would like to use with some photos and my children’s work.   If your like me I have folders full of things my children created when they were small, because I couldn’t part with them.  Now I am glad I did.  Guess now, I need to find that box of goodies, so that I can “show off” their work.

Whites22Jennifer at Balance and Bedlam had a wonderful post about DIY pedestal cake plates.  How to create your own from odd and ends pieces that you pick up.  Mismatched pieces that are lovely can still be used.   Another project for me in the near future.  Goodwill and yard sales are great places to find “unloved” pieces.

Shelley at How Does She made the cutest Dipped Oreo Cookies and there is a great tutorial-061tutorial.  Gotta definitely try this…the possibilities are endless. This was a post she did before the holidays, but could easily be done for Valentines day. The tutorial is easy peasy.

Plus she has some cute  Valentine treat ideas that she has single-heart-in-cellophanegathered from across the web. Of course, I have these bookmarked.

LeAnne at Organize and Decorate Everything has a wonderful post on Conquering Magazine clutter.  If your like me, you have magazines and lots of them.  Hop over and see how she corrals them. magazine  She has a wonderful site with lots of  great ideas and tips on controlling clutter.

Guess I should scoot, got quite a bit to do today before the snow storm hits, but hoping I will get a chance to tackle some of my things on my “to do” list.  Might be a good weekend for working on reorganizing and crafting.

Have a blessed Friday!
