Quiet time

Good Morning, I am sitting here this morning at the office.  Bright and early, ( I like to come in around 6:30 so that I have my quiet time and coffee with NO distractions.  It just might be my favorite time of the day.  Who am I kidding, IT IS MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE DAY.   I love reading God's word and by HIS grace I try to live out his word in my day to day life.  It's never easy because life is full of "messes".  I often ponder where I would be today with God's grace and love for me.  Such a scary thought.

One thing that I am really excited about is the screened in porch at the new(old) house.  I can see my mornings sipping my coffee  with my bible and notebook, looking our over the fields in the back of the house during the summer months, and cuddled up cozy by the fireplace during the winter months.

These photos are from the realtor's site.

How do you do your quiet time?

Hugs and blessings,
Cindy

Phase 1 - Thinking about the move

Wow, where has the time gone?  Can't believe that I  was away so long, but so much is going on and at rapid speed it seems.

Since my last post I have been busy.  Lots of things on my mind and my plate.  We just returned from Florida  where we went down and visited with my step-daughter and our new grandson.  Oh how precious he is.  We enjoyed our time greatly and relished in the "down time and sun".  We had the opportunity to eat some great seafood which is always a good thing for me. But as much as I love to go and visit, it is nice to come back home and get back into my routine.  Even though September will be a hectic month for me.

Spending some time trying to decide how to start packing up our little duplex (rental) and getting ready for the big move.  We will be closing on our house on the 9th of September, but not sure yet of the exact time of move in.  One of my goals with this move, is to go  thoroughly through all of our things and eventually have a massive yard sale at some point. Believe me when I say we are well past the time that this should have already been done.

A while back I started myself a little journal where I have been jotting ideas down on paper for my new home and have been spending time browsing and dreaming and writing things down to incorporate in my house.   I can not tell you how happy I am that soon I will be able to put some of these plans into motion.  I've realized over the years just how much my decorating style has changed and I want to breathe some new life into some old things. Do things a bit different that I have in the past.

I am still thinking about starting a new blog with a more appropriate name.....hoping something will hit me soon, as I want to share this journey with you from the beginning.

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Lazy Weekend

Happy Monday.  I sure hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I had a very leisure one.  Friday night I had the opportunity to go out to dinner with my folks and it was wonderful to just sit and catch up with them.  That is one thing that I have missed all those years of living away from home.  Just having the time to stop in for impromptu visits and grab dinner out.  Life really is about all the small things isn't it?

Saturday my folks were having some trees taken down on their property so I decided to run over there that morning to watch all the activity.  I had never seen one taken down and I was simply fascinated watching the guy in the bucket truck take down the trees.  After he finished, hubby decided to gather up some of the wood for our fireplace.  The fireplace in our home is gas, however we can use wood too.  Plus hubby is planning to build me a firepit in the backyard, so we will need wood so this is a good time to get it.

This is the back of the house, and eventually we will add a deck.

The back yard as it is now.  We are so excited that we will have room for a garden.  They have a small one (in the above pic).  We also will be adding a fence so that we can give our Yorkies, Barclay and Bella a place to play.
Saturday evening we went out and met up with some friends at the cutest and coolest little Ice cream shoppe. FB page here They have wonderful food and scrumptious desserts.  Had the best time.  This is a group of friends that travel together.  For those that don't know, after my dad retired from driving a truck, he started driving a tour bus and he loves it.  This is a group of couples that go on a lot of his trips with him.  Wonderful bunch of people.  Anyway, we meet every three months or so someplace and have dinner, go shopping of something.

Sunday was a very rainy and gloomy day here, but we got some much needed rain.  So we were thankful.  Hubby actually came into work for awhile and I stayed home and worked on my bible study and  had my quiet time. I cherish  that time of the day when I can sit alone with God's word and spend time in prayer.  I've actually started coming into work early @ 7AM so that I can do my devotions and reading in the quiet of the office.  It always gets me off to the best start.

I spent the afternoon in the kitchen baking some banana nut bread as my bananas were getting overly ripe.   Slicing squash to put in the freezer. And just puttering.  I really do enjoy being the kitchen.  As I was preparing my bread, I started thinking about all the goodies I want to make this Christmas.  I hate to admit how excited I am getting about the upcoming holidays.

We also got the results from house inspection.  Several things on the list that need to be taken care of by the now owners, but shouldn't be anything to major.  Hoping all goes well with the appraisal this week and then we will get our closing date.  Getting excited about that too.

So that is a brief recap of my weekend, nothing fancy but fun and relaxing.  What did you do for the weekend?

Blessings,
Cindy

Decisions Decisions

Hey y'all....I've been contemplating changing my blog again.  Thinking I would like to come up with a new name and look.  I would like something that would be a better reflection of me in this new chapter of my life.  Since I hope to be sharing more about my home (now that I will have one) and projects and homemaking etc...I want a different vibe.  However I still love the look and feel of my blog now, since I am not in my dream farmhouse I feel it is a bit misleading.  Maybe someday I will have that farmhouse...but if not I want to be content and happy right where God has me.    So my question is this.  Should I change it?  If so, what would you do? Suggestions are greatly appreciated.  What kind of things would you like to read about?

Yesterday we had the inspection on the house and we are waiting on the results of that.  The bank has ordered our appraisal and once it is done, and if all comes back fine we will be ready to close.  Hoping for the first week in Sept..  We would really like to get moved in before things get really crazy here at work.  October is a busy time for us as we are in the insurance industry and we will start with all the open enrollments for healthcare.   Wow has this job opened my eyes to the needs everyone is faced with with affordable healthcare care.

I must say that I am grateful and blessed to be working along side my hubby and have the freedom to come and go here.  I never dreamed we would be able to work together, but God has blessed this from the first day.  Can't tell you how happy that makes me and I love my job.  For the first time ever really.  God is so amazing in how he works things out.

My cup runneth over!

K...now y'all put your thinking caps on and help me out here....

Blessings,
Cindy

Prayers do get answered!

Hello friends, I have been blogging for years, sharing parts of my life.  Things I love like my home and faith and family and such.  Although for the last several years my life has been in a holding pattern. (therefore no desire to blog) Since 2010 when I sold my home it seems like my creativity just stopped.  Even before selling my home, the creativity had stopped.  We spent 18 months prior to selling, remodeling the house for sale.  Since then I have been in a holding pattern.  One of my true loves is my home and all that that implies.  But since then, I have been living in rented places where my creativity has been staunched.  And I have HATED every minute of it.  Call me weird but when I can "play" in my house, I feel alive and so much more productive. Am I crazy?

Over the years I have been keeping  notebooks and pinterest ideas for just the right time. And guess what.  The time is finally come that the creative juices are starting to flow.  :)

I have gone from a divorced single mother of 3, to a married wife of 6 adult children and a grandmother to 4 adorable (1 in heaven) grandsons, and 2 precious granddaughters and another grandchild on the way, due in October, and also became a partner with my hubby in business.  So life has really took lots of twist and turns for me. Not to mention I relocated back to my home state of Kentucky to be closer to family (parents).  But through it all God has been faithful and provided for us not in our time but his.

You may be asking yourself why all this information.  Well hubby and I finally bought our first home together.  (It's not our forever home) but one that we can "play" in with some home projects.  And we are beyond thrilled. So all this to say that I hope to be back to blogging in a more consistent manner.

We haven't closed yet on the house, but will soon and move in sometime in Sept..  I hope you will join me.

Blessings,
Cindy

Time for action

Some days I feel so torn....not sure where I am going or what I should be doing.  Do you have days like this?  My heart and mind just rush around with endless thoughts and worry.  And at the end of the day I find myself right where I was and not much to show for the day. Such a waste.  Needless to say, I don't like days like that or the feelings that follow.

Time to redirect my focus....get it off self and onto others and something productive.  Believe me, at times it is easier to tell yourself this than to actually do it, but I have faith that "this too shall pass".

After several weeks of confusion, I have made it my focus today to do certain things to get me back to a better and balanced place:

  • Daily quiet time with my bible
  • Prayer time (my prayer request list is long)
  • List making and goal setting
  • Spend time on something that makes me happy.
  • Learn something new, ie how to use a new software, how to use a new application for my phone or computer, or a new craft.

Most times I find that I have these types of feelings when I am thrown out of my routine or off my daily schedule. I'm a creature of habit. ( And if you have read my last post, you know that I just experienced my daughters wedding.) Hence these feelings of confusion, mixed in with lots of "negative self talk".  Please tell me that I am not the only one that has "negative self talk" from time to time.

I found a article that I archived for reading (over and over if needed) and it was needed today.  Here is the post title and date of the post.  Coincidence I don't think so.  God's timing is always perfect.

How to Stop Negative Internal Chatter

Just in case you need the points I need to stop the negative internal chatter, I decided to share them with you. Here we go:
1. Starve the stomach of self-pity.
If you don’t feed it, it will not grow.  Circumstances are not ours to control and they may not even be ours to change, but they are ours to conquer.

2. Give thanks in everything.
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. I Thess. 5:18
I’m thankful that this verse uses the word “in.”  Because there are things for which I struggle to be thankful. But I can be thankful in the circumstance because there is always something to be thankful for- for who God is if nothing else.

3. Pull those weeds out before they take root.
When I saturate my mind in Scripture, I find that the weeds aren’t even given a chance to take root. Then they dry up and wither.

4. Water the blooms.
Last Thursday night we had prayer meeting. Water.
Each day I’m doing my best to keep up with the Bible Reading Challenge (just caught up!!) The Word is water.
Sunday morning I heard God’s Word preached in church. Water.
Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. Jn. 7:38
Great tips Rachel. You can see her whole post on the topic here.

Thanks for stopping by today and letting me share a bit of my struggle with you.  Feel free to share any tips on how you combat confusion and negative self talk.

Blessings,

Cindy

From Miss to Mrs..

The big day has come and gone...

Such busyness the last several months trying to get everything ready for my daughters big day.  With my daughter living some 800 miles away she did most of the planning herself and she did a fabulous job.  I am quite proud of her ability to pull all this together while keeping her cool.

There were many emotional days in between over the last several months. Lots of emotions for this momma. Lots of time C.R.Y.I.N.G. …..  Tori's big day was as beautiful as she was a bride.

The days before began with lots of pampering and enjoying the moment.  From hair highlights to nails.  To adding the finishing touches to wedding favors, and centerpieces.  To rehearsal dinner, and family time with lots of laughs.

Her venue was on the picturesque Chesapeake Bay waterfront at the beautiful Anchor Inn.  A perfect location for her as she is a beach bum at heart and has always wanted a wedding on the water.  Her wedding colors Guava and Malibu added the perfect touch for this girls dream wedding. It reminded me of being the tropics.  So Tori!

Here are a few snapshots of us getting ready.....

After make up and hair ( Mom and Daughter)

Sitting and waiting for the limo. She is/was beautiful.

Helping Tori get her necklace on.

Important dates

I think hubby and I took around 300+ pictures, but we haven’t had time to edit them.  But this is a sneak preview.  Part 2 to follow shortly.

Cindy

Daydreaming Again!

Good Morning Coffee1
Good Morning!  Oh how I wish we could really sit and talk over a cup of coffee or tea, or coke if that is your preference.  But since that isn’t possible this is the next best thing.
Yesterday I spoke of praying and wanting a new home.  Well I have been “pinning” lots of ideas for a new place.  After moving as much as I have in 35+ years I kinda know what I would like to have in a home.  Check out some of these ideas I have pinned.
I love barn doors!
barn door1

I love old cabinets in the bathroom, would really like to have something like this in mine.  What ya think?
cabinet in Bath
What about a butlers pantry?
butlers pantry
Those are just a few things that I would love to have in my new home, one thing I noticed about these pictures is I must like WHITE.   However, I’m realistic and will most likely not find these things in any home I can afford, so I will be more or less doing some DIY’ing.
What would you like to have in a forever home?
On another note, hubby and I are taking the previous owners to the agency we bought to dinner tonight.  We absolute love this place and can’t wait to have dinner there again.

This is what their website has to say:

Federal Grove History

In 1785, General Jonathan Clark (eldest brother to William Clark of the Lewis & Clark Expedition) was awarded 10,000 acres of land for his Revolutionary War service. The land grant had to be taken west of the Green River in Kentucky. His first stop was here at Federal Grove where his daughter, Eleanor and Son-in-law, Benjamin Temple would in 1805 establish Federal Grove, a 1,700 acre plantation. At the peak of Federal Grove in 1840, the farm had grown to over 2,000 acres, had 26 slaves and a sizeable wheat, corn, and livestock operation. At the death of Mr. Temple, Eleanor left Federal Grove and later sold the property to Captain Harrison Wood.
Captain Wood re-named the settlement Woodville and established a general store, blacksmith shop and one room schoolhouse on the site of current Federal Grove in the late 1850’s. As the Civil War unfolded, it is said that Captain Wood fled for Texas in fear of his life. Although there were never any battles near Federal Grove, it was a major thoroughfare for traveling soldiers of both Union and Confederate forces. As they traveled they simply took anything they needed along the way.
In 1871 a young gentleman farmer by the name of James Monroe Hall purchased Federal Grove and the property remained in the Hall family until 1991.

WE Did it

Finally!  My sweet hubby has had a dream for a long time and that is to own his own Insurance Agency, and after much patience and prayers, God  opened the door and now it is a reality.

god answers prayers

Last Friday we took possession of a existing agency as the new owners.   This has been a long process.  It took us literally years to find a agency for sale where we wanted to be. Close to home so we could be near my family.  But we feel that God opened the door and to such a perfect place.  We find that God answers our prayers when they are persistent and believe he will.

This has been a long time coming, and I haven’t felt at liberty to speak about it until now.  After many attempts and let downs, we had grown weary of it ever happening.  However there was always a little voice that keep urging me to not give up. So thankful that I listen to that little voice.   So back in October when we felt that this venture was possible, we were asking God’s direction.  Our biggest prayer was that this was God’s will for us.

JesusBearCindySo I am embarking on a new venture too, as well as my son (see yesterdays post).  We are in the process of relocating our office space, per prior arrangements to the sell.  We have signed a lease on a new space and will start the moving process in a couple of weeks.  We still have things to get set up in the new space, phone, internet, etc.  .  I’m excited about our new space, it has a large reception area(my space) and several offices.  At the moment we will only be using 2 of the 6 offices.

Hope to share some photos with you as things start taking shape.

The last several years have been  a plan and wait state, and now we are ready to see what God has in store for us.  We have also been praying about a new home.  Unfortunately with the move back to Kentucky in ‘12, we have been renting a small duplex and all of our household goods are in storage. We continue to pray that God will find us the right house at the right time.   I’ll be honest and admit that at times it has been hard to not just “do” something, but I know and believe that God’s plans are far better than anything I could ever put together so the waiting game continues.  God’s timing is perfect.

So as you can see, I’ve had many things going on around here since relocating back home. Hence the  lack of blogging.  I really didn’t feel I had anything to share, I figured you would get really bored with more “waiting”post.

Blessings

Cindy

It’s a bittersweet day

Derek's going away party

This morning my youngest son embarks on a new adventure.  He is swearing into the U S Navy, and leaves for boot camp in  the morning.   As proud as I am of his decision to serve our country, I hate to see him go.   He has been planning this for months now, and now that the time has come I still am not ready for him to leave.

This past weekend my sister, mom and I drove to Maryland for his surprise going away party.  It was so much fun and so many family and friends turned out in support of him.  He really is a special kind of guy.  Such a giving, caring and loving spirit.  He blesses me.

The party was such a surprise for him, but seeing that we drove up (12 hours) for it was a bigger surprise. I am blessed that I got the opportunity to share in this event with him.

derek and cake

I had such a great time with all my kids.  Being so far away I miss so much, but I cherish each time I see them.

me and the kids

During my visit I got to spend some great one on one time with my grandson Kyle.  Oh how precious he is.  He is 15 months and he really has taken on a personality all his own.  He is trying so hard to talk and if his eyes could talk I wonder what he would say.  He has such expressive eyes when he gets excited.  My nephew who is 5 went up with us, and Kyle did his best to stay up with him.  His little legs were practically running to stay up with him.  Oh so cute.  Each time I look at him, I see my children all over again.

me and Kyle

So today, as I sit here,  I reflect on my blessings, God has been so good in his provisions for me and my family.  Today I will continue to put my kids in God’s hands, and be reminded of his promise.

Isaiah 55:8-9
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Could you all remember my son in your prayers as he embarks on this new journey?

Blessings,

Cindy

Just stinkin’ Thinkin’

please don't steal. Thanks Judy!Seems I ask myself this on a daily basis anymore.  If you have been around the blog world for awhile you know how uncommitted I have been to blogging.  Life has just taken a whole different look since moving back to Kentucky.  I moved back to my hometown about 2 years ago after being gone for 30 years.  Can you say BIG ADJUSTMENT?  It has been, but it has been a great move back.  The only upsetting fact is my grown children and grandson are still in Maryland.  However God has provided me the opportunity to see them about 3 months or so since the move.  Usually my mom and I travel up there ever three months unless they are coming home.

1957 Boarding the Dog

It’s a 12 hour drive, but mom and I take our time and stop every few hours to stretch our legs and  take the much needed potty breaks.

My dear daughter and I Skype quite frequently so I can watch my grandson Kyle (15 months)grow up.  Sometimes it is hard to see him and know that I can’t get to him, but I do love  having the option as to not.  Sometimes technology amazes me.

Kyle1

Kyle at 1 year.  Do they come any cuter?  He is such a joy.  I love him so much, as I do these little munchkins.

my kids

Wesley, Tori, Derek (Christmas 2013)

I am so happy with the advances in most of the technology world.  I remember about 100 years ago(okay not really 100) but thirty years ago living in Rota Spain and wishing I could call home.  One phone call for about a hour talk time would cost around $300.  Something that my parents and in-laws and us would take turns doing.  But now we have all kinds of internet options to stay in contact with family and friends that are half way around the world.  Which I am so happy for, since my youngest son is getting ready to join the Navy.  He leaves for boot camp on March 4.  He is following in his father’s footsteps.

All the technologies got me to thinking…..which technology or app via it be for the computer, phone, etc. can you not see yourself living without now?  Please share.

Blessings,

Cindy

Bible Study Wednesday

Good Morning Lord

Good Morning!  This morning I am off to bible study.  After about two years of not participating in a real live bible study it is awesome to be back in God’s word with other women.  It’s a great group of women all coming together from 7or 8 different dominations.  We are in the 5th week of a 7 week study called Missing Pieces by Jennifer Rothschild.  Oh is it so good.

Some things you will learn how too:

  • Experience unexpected peace in spite of unexpected heartache
  • Move forward when you feel stuck in your circumstances
  • Strengthen your faith when you feel beat down by life
  • Gain stability when tidal waves of emotion hit
  • Trust God more than your feelings

missing pieces

Over the years I have been involved with many bible studies.  Lately I have been doing online studies (I’ll share a couple of great sources in the future) which I have loved, but there is just something about going and fellowshipping (is that a word) with other like minded women.  I love spending time learning about our Heavenly Father. He has so much to teach us if we will just stay teachable.

Proverbs 13:18 - Poverty and shame [shall be to] him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

Proverbs 9:9-Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

Blessings,

Cindy

Romans 8:38-39“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

So excited today

Oh happy day!  I know when I share why this is such a happy day you are going to think I have lost my mind.  I am so happy over this:

reveal mop

That’s right. I hate doing the floors.  Which I am sure you all can relate too.  Shake your head and agree with me here, okay.  Normally I have to get out my bucket of water and gloves and rag and get down on my hands and knees to do my floors.  Otherwise they streak and look about half way done. Not a pretty picture.  Believe me I have tried all the gadgets and gizmos out there.  My sweet hubby came home with this last week after his excursions to Sam’s and my first though was, I wish it would work but I know it won’t. However I was surprised when I did my floors this morning.  They looked great, just like I had scooted all over my floor to get that lookWinking smile  So for me it was a happy day and now I don’t think I will dread doing the floor as often.

This is what Rubbermaid has to say about this:

Save more and waste less with the Rubbermaid Reveal™ Spray Mop. The thick microfiber pad is washable and reusable so that you never have to run to the store for refills when you’re getting ready to clean. Simply fill the bottle with hot water and two teaspoons of your favorite cleaning solution and you’re ready to mop. The Reveal™ Spray Mop also features a non-scratch scrubbing pad to loosen stubborn spots.

  • Safe to use on all floor types including hardwood, vinyl, laminate and tile?
  • 22 oz. refillable bottle allows you to mix your own solution
  • Non-scratch scrubber for stubborn spots
  • Microfiber pads are reusable and machine washable up to 100 times
  • Non-battery operated spray trigger allows you to dispense as much or as little solution as you need to clean your floor
  • Constructed with durable, yet lightweight material

I love that it has a refillable bottle so I can use my own homemade solution and it comes with two microfiber pads, so while one is in the wash you have another one.  Someone listened finally and created a spray mop that works.

This morning was a very productive morning, I got my floors moped, laundry done, bedroom cleaned and picked up, dishwasher loaded and ran and also had time to finish my bible study.  Love days like that.

I hope you all have had a great day.

Blessings,

Cindy

Happy Sunday

Good Morning!

Happy Sunday

Woke up this morning and I’m sitting here and sipping my coffee.  Looking out the window at the beautiful blue sky and feeling blessed for this wonderful pretty day.  Temps are pleasant outside, not that bone freezing cold temps we have been having.  Looking forward to spring and seeing the blooms appearing after this harsh cold winter, and listening to the birds singing again.  I love the promise that Spring gives.

buttercups

Last night we had a great night out.  Our church had a friendship banquet and such a wonderful time out spent with our church family.  Lots of great food and played some games.   Yesterday I also had the opportunity to meet up with some girl friends from high school, It is such a great time when we get together.   We went to visit a classmate that is in the hospital after a terrible scare with blood clots in the heart.  By all the doctors indications we are blessed he is still with us.  God has really been answering our prayers for him. After the visit, us girls ventured over the the local Mexican restaurant and continued our visit and going down memory lane.  Catching up on each others lives.  Isn’t it awesome when we can take time out of our everyday lives and reconnect with those that we love.  So thankful for the time spent with the “girls” yesterday.

I have a lot going on this upcoming week.  Hubby and I are in the process of buying our own business, and the take over is scheduled for March 1.  So we have been busy finding a new location for the business (it’s a existing business in town) acquiring furniture and needs for the new office.  Plus I have not worked outside the home since Oct. and this week I will start back .  But only going into the office a few days this week to get acclimated to the new routine as well as help with some of the business needs before the move/transition.   (More on all this later once the move is complete)

I don’t plan to make a post on Sundays, unless it is one that I have scheduled because that is my church and family day.  However I thought I would just get online and post a little note.

I hope you have a fabulous and blessed Sunday.

Blessings,
Cindy

At it again

Don’t faint, I know you want too.  I am trying to do this again.  Real life has been busy and eventful.  Just wanted to say that I have really missed the blogging world and lately so much has been going on that I would have loved to have been posting but unfortunately couldn’t find the kind of time I needed.  So as I embark on some new adventures this year decided I would try this once again to share some of the fun along the way.

Keeping this short, but be back soon.Fingers crossed

Love and blessings to you all.

Blessings,

Acts 4:10,12“then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.””

Starting at the beginning

Good Morning, I thought I might catch you all up on me.  If any of you followed me for awhile, you know that I I have been blogging and creating web pages for years.    But over the last several years  I’ve been kinda all over the place.  Starting back around the time I got a my divorce, which I wrote a little bit about in a post called Do you ever.  Well since then I have really been trying to find myself again.  Some things are the same, some things are different, and quite a bit of growth in all things. Thank you Jesus!

I remarried in 08 and my life took off again, and since then there has been lots of turns and twist.  I was still living in my home that I had with my first hubby and I was trying to update it so that I could put it in the market.  Goal being, leave Maryland and move closer to home (Kentucky).  So one of the first projects we did was remodeled and updated my kitchen.  So I thought today it would be fun to revisit my (old) kitchen.

I wish I had some before shots, but I am sure you know the look.  Builders grade oak cabinets, etc, etc…

We changed out all the light fixtures in this area to a polished nickel and bought all stainless steel appliances, painted the cabinets a antique white and put all brush nickel pulls on the cabinets, which they didn’t have any to begin with.  We added crown molding, and my hubby also added a molding to the top of the cabinets to give it a little more custom look.   The room had been painted a sage green color and we decided to paint it a buttery yellow.

We also updated the countertops with granite and added a black deep sink with  a new brush nickel water faucet.

Hubby updated the vinyl floor covering with hardwood floods and added bead board to the bar area..

Had this been a bit larger kitchen it could have been a dream.  I loved how it turned out.  From basic oak, vinyl flooring and Formica to this.  Hubby did a wonderful job and this is a transformation that I would take on again. I was so thrilled with the outcome.

Needless to say we enjoyed this kitchen after it was finished.

This is just one of the many projects we did in the house before we put it on the market.  By the time we sold the house we had repainted all the walls, recarpeted the upstairs in Berber, updated all the bathrooms with custom built vanities and all new lighting and water fixtures and tile flooring.  New hardwood floors went into the living room as well as the dining room.  Added a new front door with beveled glass front and new slider heading to the deck.

I hope you enjoyed my remodeled kitchen.

   Blessings,

      Cindy

Balance

balance

That is what I am trying to find.  I did so well with blogging last week and started off a bit shaky this week considering I haven’t been here in the last several days.  Well the reason why, is I started a new job this week.  Nothing fancy just  a cashier position but it is to mainly get me out of the house.  Not sure yet what my hours are going to be, but I felt I had way to much time on my hands and that isn’t a good thing for me.

So now I am going to have to get myself into some kind of schedule so that I can still do the  things on/at the computer that I enjoy.  Not to mention to have time for all my other loves, like crafting, antiquing (junkin) and yard saleing, reading and traveling.   Which I love to do in the summer.  But first things first.   So working on a schedule that will include these things.  Seems like this is the only way I get things accomplished. Can you relate? Or is it just me.  Believe me I always have good intentions but unless I can read them a lot of times they simply don’t happen.

However, I am reminded of what the bible says about balance……Matthew 6:33 ESV: But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.   So my first thing on my list is my quiet time and devotion time with God. As long as I keep that in prospective then all else falls into place.  So tonight I will sit here and figure out this schedule thing and hope I will come to some kind of solution that works for me.

Blessings,

    Cindy

Weekly Roundup- March 1,2013

Good Afternoon Ladies,  I always enjoyed doing this post because I love looking around blogland.  And who doesn’t like seeing how others put things together or how someone redoes something.  Sometimes taking trash to treasure.  It varies week to week on what I feel like posting here, but my sincere hope is that you will find something that inspires you and sparks your creativity.

cherry blossom branches

Nici @ Posed Perfection created these cherry blossoms, I think if I was doing them I would use pink tissue paper. But love this easy and cute idea

EasterTreeDIY 015

Amber @ The Honeysuckle Bus Stop created a easy Easter tree. Another super easy and inexpensive craft project for spring.

stampin eggs

Jaime from Crafty Scrappy Happy shared how to make these adorable eggs.  Want to do these.

Those are a few of the things that I found this week that I feel are quite doable and inexpensive to add to your home this Easter or Spring. Feel free to share a idea with us.

  Blessings,
